It looks like Drake’s year just continues to get worse. Richie Branson, who is known for work on the popular video game “Fortnite,” has now developed “Not Like Us: The Game” based on Kendrick Lamar’s popular diss track.
The game is 8-bit, browser-based and free to play. In addition, Branson has made his Cash App and Venmo information available for anyone who wants to support.
The game draws inspiration from the Lamar’s music video for “Not Like Us” — specifically, the part in which Lamar repeatedly hits an owl piñata and raps: “Certified Loverboy, certified pedophile/Wop Wop Wop Wop Wop/Dot f*ck ‘em up/Wop Wop Wop Wop Wop/Imma do my stuff.”
The objective is for the player to hit as many owls as they can before time runs out.
“Not Like Us: The Game” is soundtracked by a chiptune version of Mustard’s “Not Like Us” beat. Every time the player hits an owl, the screen shows a “WOP!” The song debuted at No. 1 in May for a week and spent the next eight weeks in the Top 10.
This week, “Not Like Us” managed to get Lamar his first multi-week Hot 100 No. 1 as a solo artist. The song has received 54 million streams and 40 million radio airplay audience impressions.
Last month, the “Humble” rapper performed the song six times at his “The Pop Out” concert in Los Angeles which was streamed on Amazon Prime. During his set, several rappers—including Dr. Dre, Jay Rock, YG, Tyler the Creator, Schoolboy Q and more—came out to show love.
In addition to being the laughing stock of the music industry, Drake is also currently dealing with his Toronto mansion being flooded from torrential rain. This too shall pass, Drizzy.
