The people surveyed for this poll don't get to cast a ballot in our election, but perhaps their opinions matter to those who do when it comes to choosing a new "leader of the free world." BBC found sharply higher approval ratings for President Barack Obama than Mitt Romney when it asked "Who would you prefer?" overseas.
An average of 50% favoured Mr Obama, with 9% for Mr Romney, in the survey of 21,797 people in 21 countries.
Only Pakistan's respondents said they would prefer to see Mr Romney win November's election.
France was the most strongly pro-Obama (72%).
The survey was conducted by GlobeScan/PIPA between 3 July and 3 September.
Should the opinions of people in other countries matter to us here in the U.S.? Let us know in the comments section.
