A small child lost his life over the weekend after reportedly finding a loaded gun in his babysitter’s home and somehow shooting himself, KHOU 11 reports.

According to the Harris County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office, the boy was not breathing when emergency responders arrived, and he could not be revived.

The boy’s parents were not in the home at the time of the shooting. The child was reportedly staying overnight with a friend of the family while his mother celebrated her birthday. However, according to the news station, at least three other individuals were in the home at the time of the early-Sunday shooting. Two of those individuals were to be tested for gunshot residue.
