Vallejo, Calif., police are asking the public for help with any details about a father who is suspected of purposely igniting a fire that killed his 5-year-old son and injured other family members over the weekend, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Darrylone Shuemake Sr., 53, is "on the run" and wanted in connection with the death of his son, Dayleon Seil-Shuemake.
"He's expected to be dangerous," Vallejo Police Lt. Jeff Bassett warned in a news conference Monday.
Shuemake is believed to have used an accelerant to start a fire in the master bedroom, trapping the 5-year-old inside the home, according to Bassett.
Firefighters arrived at the home just before 10 a.m. Several neighbors were attempting to rescue the boy, but he was in a rear bedroom that was fully engulfed in flames. Dayleon was declared dead at the scene. The boy's mother and his 13-year-old half brother suffered burns from the fire and were taken to an area hospital.
