Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Rodney King's death, BET News reports. While they say they don't suspect foul play, they'll be looking for additional details surrounding the drowning of the man who became a national symbol of police brutality. Friends reportedly say that they don't believe they've heard the whole story.
King, 47, was found dead at the bottom of a pool in Rialto, California, by his fiancée, Cynthia Kelley, early Sunday. Kelley told officers that King was outside most of the night and she rushed to the poolside after hearing him knock on a window and then heard a splash …
As the police probe begins, TMZ reports that King's friends aren't convinced Kelley is telling the entire truth about the events leading up to King's drowning …
According to the site, the friends say Kelley's story changed several times in the hours after King's death and have decided to approach police with their doubts about the validity of her story.
Police say they do not suspect any foul play and that King's death is being investigated as a drowning. An autopsy is expected to be performed soon.
