News One is reporting that police are investigating possible gun shots fired near the White House. Police closed parts of Constitution Avenue near the White House Friday night to investigate the reports.

Sgt. David Schlosser of the U.S. Park Police said that the White House did not appear to have been the focus of the incident.

The article reports, "Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan said witnesses heard shots and saw two vehicles racing on Constitution Avenue toward 17th Street, and one of the vehicles was abandoned at 23rd and Constitution."

Gun shots being fired near the White House is never a good thing. Whether the incident is related to the White House or not is inconsequential. It's too close for comfort, to say the least.
