East Cleveland police on Sunday publicly identified the suspect in the deaths of three women who were discovered wrapped in trash bags, the Associated Press reports. And no more bodies were discovered following a search by officers and volunteers, reports show.

[East Cleveland Police Chief Ralph] Spotts says Sunday that 35-year-old registered sex offender Michael Madison is in custody and expected to be formally charged on Monday.

Sunday's search included scouring about 40 abandoned houses and other areas, but turned up no more bodies in the neighborhood where three were found separately on Friday and Saturday.

A medical examiner says the bodies were in advanced stages of decomposition, and it will take days to identify the women and determine how they died.

Police did not plan to continue searching Monday.

Authorities responding to a report of a foul odor from a home discovered a body and arrested a registered sex offender who sent police and volunteers through a poor Ohio neighborhood in a search for more victims, officials said Sunday.

East Cleveland Police Chief Ralph Spotts said Sunday that searchers should be prepared to find one or two more victims, but he declined to elaborate. Mayor Gary Norton said the suspect has indicated he might have been influenced by Cleveland serial killer Anthony Sowell, who was convicted in 2011 of murdering 11 women and sentenced to death.
