Pharrell Williams’ fashion statements over the past year are being applauded by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. On Wednesday the CFDA named Williams its Fashion Icon of the Year. Williams will accept his award June 1 at Lincoln Center in New York City.

“If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell, not just for his looks and sense of style but for his kindness and openness. I cannot imagine anyone not seduced by him,” Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA, said in a statement Wednesday.

Past honorees include Rihanna, Iman, Kate Moss, Lady Gaga and Johnny Depp.

Williams’ fashion endeavors include his clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream. On top of that, Williams also owns a New York City boutique and has designed glasses and jewelry for Louis Vuitton.
