CNN and MSNBC recently announced new television hosts: Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker on CNN and Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC. These three fit the description of cable television's network news and chat fest champions like Greta Van Susteren, John King, Bob Schieffer, Keith Olbermann and Bill O'Reilly. They are all white, and cable news has become so white that some are wondering, where are the people of color? That's right, doing specials on what it's like to be a person of color in America. People of color who were headlining similar shows, like Carlos Watson, Roland Martin and Christina Brown, have all but disappeared. Cable news is competitive, but is there no one of color capable of headlining top real estate, or do media executives not value diversity? We'll put our money on the latter.
