Former Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort has gone full Denzel Washington in Training Day, and he’s putting cases on all you bitches. Below is a clip of Manafort before he filed lawsuits against special counsel Robert Mueller, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and the Department of Justice:
According to CNBC, Mueller is alleging that the investigation has strayed beyond the initial scope and that the order appointing Mueller the special investigator exceeded the deputy attorney general’s authority.
“The actions of DOJ and Mr. Rosenstein in issuing the appointment order, and Mr. Mueller’s actions pursuant to the authority the order granted him, were arbitrary, capricious and not in accordance with the law,” the suit reads, CNBC reports.
The news site notes that “the appointment order authorizing Mueller as special counsel permits him to investigate any matters that ‘may arise directly from the investigation.’ Experts have said it gives Mueller wide latitude to determine the course of his investigation.”
Basically, Manafort is an idiot who doesn’t have a chance in hell of these cases going anywhere, which brings us back to Denzel in Training Day and that speech where he claims he’s “putting cases” on everyone and that “King Kong ain’t got shit on me,” right before he died.
“I think it’s going to be an uphill battle,” Sol Wisenberg, a leading white-collar attorney, referring to Manafort’s suit, told CNBC. “These kinds of things usually don’t prevail.”
Manafort was indicted on 12 counts related to unlawful financial dealings on Oct. 12. His trial is scheduled for May, CNBC reports.
The special counsel laughed at that shitty little lawsuit and noted that even in a cupcake prison, Manafort will most likely end up washing another inmate’s underwear office declined to comment.
