Pat Houston is coming forward for the first time ever since Bobbi Kristina Brown died in July to talk about the death of her late niece; Bobbi Kristina's mom, Whitney Houston; and Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend Nick Gordon.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Pat Houston said that even though it appeared that both Bobbi Kristina and Gordon were upset with her (Houston filed a restraining order against Gordon in 2014), Houston said that she was in communication with Bobbi Kristina all along.
Even more telling, she explained that part of the reason she filed the order against Gordon was to show Bobbi Kristina that she didn't have to fear anyone—an insinuation that Bobbi Kristina was intimidated by, or being controlled by, Gordon. That comment sheds light on the civil suit that Bobbi Kristina's court representative filed against Gordon, alleging that he beat her and stole money from her.
"Where the world saw that she was angry and mad at me, she was texting me all along," Houston said. "I really tried to show her [that] 'I'm going to do this to let you know that you don't have to be afraid of anything. I got you.'
"External attraction can really cause problems," Houston said, referring to Bobbi Kristina and Gordon's relationship.
Houston also said that she and her other relatives tried to stage an intervention for Bobbi Kristina, but it was too late. "When we really found out that Krissy was in trouble, we were really making plans to do something about it […] but it came too late," she said.
