Everyone knows that the color purple is associated with royalty, an incredible novel by Alice Walker and the leeeegendary artist Prince.
We can assume it was his favorite color, and now you, too, can have your very own Prince purple, thanks to Pantone, which has gifted him (or negotiated with his estate) his very own shade of the hue.
“Love Symbol #2” will be the official color across all branding affiliated with Prince, NPR reports. The hue was inspired by a Yamaha piano of that exact tone that Prince planned to tour with before his untimely death on April 21, 2016.
“Long associated with the purple family, Love Symbol #2 enables Prince’s unique purple shade to be consistently replicated and maintain the same iconic status as the man himself,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, in a statement.
Prince fans know that “Love Symbol #2” was the name he gave to the symbol that eventually became his name. It’s also known as “glyph.”
