Building restrictions have expired after a 10-month hiatus, and Palestine wants them renewed. Israel has not offered to renew the restrictions, despite demands from Washington and the Palestinians to do so. Palestinians have repeatedly threatened to quit U.S.-mediated talks if Israel does not extend the freeze on new settlement construction that ended at midnight. All of this drama, and the U.S.-mediated peace talks resumed less than a month ago. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton better have a rabbit in that hat, because this is not looking good. In our best Rodney King voice, "Can't we all just get along?"
