Matthew Christian Cash, a 24-year-old Pennsylvania man with a lengthy rap sheet, attempted to run over as many of New York City’s Port Authority police officers as possible Wednesday night near the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, the New York Post reports.

Fortunately, Cash’s car missed the officers who were patrolling the tunnel and instead crashed into a parked police car. As cops detained him, Cash twice screamed, “I want to kill cops,” and continued to act erratically while he was arrested and placed in a police car.

Michael Rosselli, an onlooker nearby, described the scene to the New York Post. “He was putting up a fight,” Rosselli said. “They had to get him into the cruiser. He was kicking at the window trying to get out. They had medics on standby.”

The Post reports that Cash was taken to Bellevue Hospital, presumably to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. A female passenger who was sitting in Cash’s car during the incident described how Cash had just gotten a bad phone call that made him upset and triggered the incident.

Synthetic marijuana was found in Cash’s car, and Cash claimed that “he was on angel dust,” the Post reports.
