OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network, has canceled plans to air a reality series focused on the life of Jay Williams, the Atlanta-based music producer who is the father of 34 children by 17 women, according to Variety.
“OWN has decided not to move forward with the Jay Williams docu-series,” the network said in a statement. “The series aimed to follow Jay as he worked to put his life and fractured relationships in order and to hold him accountable every step of the way. The intention was to help Jay work to establish new connections with his family, his children and the mothers of his children. Production has ended and the series will not air.”
Reasons for the show’s cancellation were not spelled out, but when it was announced in March, OWN said that it would chronicle Williams’ efforts to get his life on track with his children. A September premiere was planned.
Williams sparked controversy when he appeared last year on OWN’s Iyanla: Fix My Life, a series centering on the life coach and relationship expert. His series would have been a spin-off from his Iyanla segment. It was to be produced by OWN and Evolution Media, according to the entertainment news outlet.
