While Michelle Obama was in Atlanta for her Becoming: Michelle Obama book tour event, she found time within her hectic schedule to surprise a group of elated students at Spelman College on Saturday.

The lucky group also included students from fellow Atlanta University Center Consortium members Clark Atlanta University and all-male Morehouse College. According to Fox 5, students from the HBCUs greeted her with smiles, tears and excitement. Sounds about right; we’d probably greet her the same way.

The small circle of students chosen for the visit had been studying Obama’s book as the core text for a political science class called “Black Women: Developing Public Leadership Skills.”

Among other topics, Obama discussed the struggles she faced while studying at Princeton.

Brief clips from the visit were posted to Twitter by Marissa Mitchell of Fox5, who was on assignment covering Obama’s visit to Atlanta.

Later in the evening, Obama’s official book tour event was held in the sold-out State Farm arena and moderated by Gayle King. Rapper 2Chainz brought his daughter onstage to talk about young feminist power.
