Our Favorite Fall Nail Shades for Black People

This fall, we’ll be painting our nails with shimmery silvers, deep purples and beautiful burnt oranges.

When it comes to your manicure, there really are no rules. But as fall rolls in, it’s the perfect time to trade in your bright summer polishes for a deeper, richer color palette.

Purple, olive green and burnt orange are some of the hottest colors of the season, but neutrals, metallics and reds are classic shades that will never go out of style.

Check out some of our favorite fall nail shades for people of color.

Deep Olive Green

Retrograde is a dark, creamy olive green shade from Habit Cosmetics. We love that it’s made of non-toxic ingredients, including myrrh extract, which will help strengthen your nails. The company gets bonus points for packaging made with recycled plastic and a biodegradable bamboo cap.

Beautiful Browns

A beautiful brown polish should be a part of your fall color palette. Besides being a stunning shade, “Cleo F*ckin Patra” from Pear Nova gets bonus points for having a great name!

A Nice Neutral

You can never go wrong with a nice neutral polish like Pearl from People of Color Beauty. “Such an underrated color, very pretty and compliments my brown skin tone beautiful,” wrote one happy customer.

The Darker the Berry

Burgundy is everywhere this fall, including your favorite nail salon. We love “Darker the Berry” from Breukelen Polished, a rich shade that looks great on melanated skin.

A Pretty Purple

When it comes to purple polish, the deeper the shade the better. We are living for Happy Hour, a beautiful eggplant shade from Nash + Pino.

Midnight Blue

If you’re looking for a dark shade but don’t want to go jet black, NYFW from Mischo Beauty, is a bold and sexy midnight blue we love.

Gorgeous Gray

Don’t get it twisted, there’s nothing boring about gray. Mad Sus from Breukelen Polished is a gorgeous shade that’s anything but basic.

Beautiful Burnt Orange

Burnt orange looks beautiful on melanated skin, and Pumpkin Patch from ILNP is the perfect shimmery shade you won’t be able to stop wearing this fall.

A Rich Red

Fall is the perfect time to paint your nails in a bold, rich red shade, and “Good Kisser” from Mischo Beauty is a fan favorite. One happy customer called it a “truly amazing red.”

Stunning Silver

You don’t have to wait for a night out to try a shimmery metallic polish. “Night in Shining Armor,” a glittery silver shade from Pear Nova, works any time of day.

Coffeehouse Chic

Coffee-inspired shades are always on trend for fall. “Cappucino” from Côte Beauty is a neutral shade that gives us all the fall feels.

As Good as Gold

Nothing says glam like a blinged out gold polish. “Bottle Service” from Nash + Pino is one of our favorites.
