It seems that Oprah Winfrey has spoken out about those pesky lesbian rumors that have been following her for years. In an interview with Barbara Walters, Winfrey denied a romantic relationship with her best friend, Gayle King. When asked to describe her friendship with King, an emotional Winfrey answers: "She is … the mother I never had. She is … the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don't know a better person. I don't know a better person." Choking back tears and eventually beginning to cry, Oprah continues: "It's making me cry because I'm thinking about … how much … I probably have never told her that." She denies the lesbian rumors, saying that it irritates her because people think she is lying, and that is something she does not do.
It stands to reason that someone who is so open and candid about so many personal things, including sexual abuse and teen pregnancy, would lie about her sexuality. She has championed so many people in the gay and lesbian community that she clearly doesn't have a problem with homosexuality. Perhaps people should mind their business and let Lady O live her life — gay, straight or in between.
