The Tulsa, Okla., police officer involved in the shooting death of Terence Crutcher has been charged with first-degree felony manslaughter, NPR reports. On Friday, Police Officer Betty Shelby fatally shot Crutcher on a Tulsa highway after his car broke down.

Video of the shooting showed Crutcher raising his hands as he walked to his vehicle, and in the audio you can hear the pilot of a helicopter overhead stating that Crutcher looked like a "bad dude." Earlier this week, Shelby stated that it was the scariest moment of her life and that she was filled with fear. Tulsa police said that Crutcher was not complying with their demands when he was shot, but the video seemed to show a totally different story.

District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler issued a statement about the warrant issued for Shelby.

“Despite the heightened tensions felt by all, which seemingly beg for an emotional response and reaction, our community has consistently demonstrated a willingness to respect the judicial process,” he said during a press conference.

Shelby's attorney stated that she was in the process of surrendering to police. On Wednesday the Department of Justice said it was launching an investigation into Crutcher's death.
