They received a round of applause as they took their seats during the wildly popular production, which stars Denzel Washington, the news site reports.

The Lorraine Hansberry play is set in 1950s Chicago and highlights a struggling working-class black family awaiting a $10,000 insurance check and the resulting bickering over how to spend it.

Besides Washington, the cast includes LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Sophie Okonedo, Anika Noni Rose, Sean Patrick Thomas and David Cromer. The director is Kenny Leon.
