President Barack Obama's job-performance and personal approval ratings have hit their lowest point since he took office. According to an NBC-Wall Street Journal poll, 51 percent disapprove of his job in office and 45 percent view the president in a "negative light."

According to report analysis by NBC News, no single reason is to blame for the president's low approval rating. The site lists a series of public mishaps, such as "allegations of spying by the National Security Agency, the debate over Syria's chemical weapons, the government shutdown and now intense scrutiny over the problems associated with the health care law's federal website and its overall implementation."

The president isn't the only politician whose approval rating has suffered — every other politician included in the poll experienced a drop. According to NBC, those polled are equally disapproving of the Republican Party, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
