We all know that rapper Jay-Z is in pretty well with President Obama. You've seen the pictures that he and his wife, Beyoncé, have taken with Obama. The president has even gone on record to say he's a fan of Jay-Z's music.

And earlier this week, Jay-Z revealed in a Hot 97 interview with Angie Martinez that he and the president text each other occasionally. Cool, right?

“I’ve spoken to him on the phone and had texts from Obama. Of course,” Jay-Z said in an interview with the radio station Hot97. Perhaps realizing that comment might sound arrogant, he quickly added, “Not ‘of course’ … You gotta stop yourself sometimes. “ He started again, more humbly: “Yes, that’s happened and it’s amazing.” …

“I don’t know if this is breaching national security,” Jay-Z said. “But when he was getting elected the second time, he was like, ‘Hey, you know, fourth quarter, just give me the ball,’ I said, ‘word.’”

Jay-Z previously referred to texting with Obama in his lyrics to “On To The Next One.” He rapped, “Had her out in Bed-Stuy, chillin’ on the steps/Drinkin’ quarter waters, I gotta be the best/ M.J. at Summer Jam, Obama on the text/Y’all should be afraid of what I’m gonna do next, hold up.”
