In an interview this morning with ABC News, Obama finally addressed Donald Trump and Birthers who believe he wasn't born in America. "I think that over the last two-and-a-half years, there's been an effort to go at me in a way that is politically expedient in the short term for Republicans," Obama said.

President Obama also said that tactics like these, meant to distract from the real issues, don't really bode well for potential presidential candidates.

"The vast majority of Americans across the country — Democratic or Republican — really want this election to be about growing the economy, getting control of the deficit, preparing the future for our kids. And my suspicion is that anybody who is not addressing those questions is going to be in trouble," he added.

The Donald's claims have caused quite the controversy, with Bill Cosby and John Legend both coming out against him after he demanded proof of the president's citizenship.

And this controversy continues to puzzle us, as then-candidate Barack Obama released a birth certificate in the summer of 2008 showing that he was born in Hawaii.

While we don't think this will stop Trump from spreading lies anytime soon, we're happy that the president is setting the record straight.
