Obama Calls for $5 Billion in Clean-Energy Credits

President Obama is calling on Congress to approve $5 billion for clean-energy manufacturing tax credits. The tax credits that were part of the $862 billion economic stimulus package last year were enormously popular and sparked 180 projects in 40 states. The credits were enormously popular, but there was not enough money to fund worthy wind and solar energy projects. There were $8 billion worth of requests from credible projects, but the government had only $2.3 billion to invest. In the wake of the BP oil spill debacle, alternative energy projects sound like a good idea to us.
