An Oakland, Calif., mother is demanding justice after her 16-year-old daughter was shot and killed in a Tuesday-evening shooting in the city’s downtown, KTVU reports.
“If anybody out there knows anything out there, please, please, let me know anything. I need justice,” the teen’s mother, Onika Wilson, said.
Reggina Jefferies had performed a praise-and-worship dance at church before heading out to attend the vigil for two other teens who had drowned last month. However, the 16-year-old was fatally wounded after gunfire erupted around 5:30 p.m. while she was at the vigil.
Three other individuals were shot but survived the shooting and were said to be in stable condition.
Reggina’s mother is still reeling from what happened to her daughter. Wilson said she had watched her daughter perform at church before dropping her off.
“I called my daughter at 5:25 and asked her if she was OK and she said yes. I got a phone call that my daughter had been shot at 5:36,” Wilson said.
