The world’s most infamous acquitted murder defendant O.J. Simpson has reportedly been diagnosed with cancer, per Miami’s Local 10 News. Various sources told the outlet that the former athlete, 76, is suffering from prostate cancer.
In addition, Simpson—who previously resided in South Florida— is apparently undergoing chemotherapy in Las Vegas. It’s been said that he’s told his family and friend rumors have been circulating about him being in hospice care.
However, on Friday he took to X/Twitter to share that it couldn’t be further from the truth. In the clip, Simpson said he will have “a ton of friends” over for the Super Bowl on Sunday.
“Hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice?,” he said laughing in the video from the drivers seat of his car. “No, I’m not in any hospice, I don’t know who put that out there. Whoever put that out there, it’s like the Donald [Trump] say: can’t trust the media. In any event, I’m hosting a ton of friends for the Super Bowl here in Las Vegas. All is well. Take care, have a good Super Bowl Weekend.”
Simpson grew up in San Francisco’s public housing before attending the University of Southern California. In 1968, he won the Heisman Trophy as college football’s best player. He would later become an NFL Hall of Famer and would take Hollywood by storm by appearing in several films.
In 1995, he was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her associate Ronald Goldman. At the time, Simpson’s legal team consisted of the late Johnnie Cochran Jr. and F. Lee Bailey. He would later serve nine years in a Nevada prison for armed robbery.
Now, Simpson appears as a regular guest on the “It Is What It Is” podcast with hosts Cam’Ron and Mase.
