No criminal charges will be filed against George Zimmerman for his part in a dispute he had with his estranged wife and her father last month, said a spokesman with the Lake Mary, Fla., police department Wednesday, the Orlando Sentinel reports. According to the spokesman, the dispute didn't rise to a criminal level.
The incident, which took place at the Zimmermans' home, happened just days after Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce. Shellie Zimmerman's parents, who own the couple's Lake Mary home, alleged that George Zimmerman stole thousands of dollars in property before he left the premises.
During her initial call to the police, Shellie Zimmerman told police that her husband punched her father in the nose and threatened them with a gun. She later changed her story and decided against pressing charges. No gun was found on the scene, and George Zimmerman would later claim that it was his wife who was the aggressor.
