On Sunday, Nicki Minaj hopped on Instagram Story to tell her most loyal fans to calm down. The star addressed her followers directly, telling them that threatening violence to her detractors simply isn’t the answer.

“Dear Barbz, be sure to never threaten anyone on my behalf. Whether on the internet or in person. Whether in jest or not. I don’t [and] never have condoned that,” the rapper stated.

She then promoted her new album set to be released on her 41st birthday. Minaj said, “We have an amazing album right around the corner, Dec. 8. It feels so surreal [and] euphoric. Wishing you blessings on blessings.”

The emcee’s fanbase is known to be volatile. In 2022, online personality Kimberly Nicole Foster said she would sue the Barbz after Foster’s criticism of Minaj led to being doxxed and having her life threatened.

Foster told The Daily Beast:

“It was normal, annoying stuff where I was like, ‘OK, block and move on. The messages became more threatening and dark, and then it started to be, ‘We’re gonna find you. I’m gonna kidnap you. I hope you get raped.”

Minaj has been accused of bullying critics herself and back in 2018, responded directly to journalist Wanna Thompson who questioned the maturity of her music.

“Eat a d*ck you hatin ass h*e. Got the nerve to have a Trini flag on your page... Just say you jealous. I’m rich, famous, intelligent, pretty and go! But wait, leave my b*lls. Tired of you sucking on them,” Minaj said.

Thompson said that Minaj’s fans also sent her death threats.

Recently, Minaj meanwhile, won best hip hop act at the MTV Europe Music Awards and became the first woman rapper in the history of the event to win best U.S. act.

She was was also nominated for best artist, though the show—which was scheduled to take place in Paris Sunday—was canceled due to “the devastating events in Israel and Gaza” MTV explained on X/Twitter.
