A few days after Mitt Romney stuck his foot in his mouth by saying he’s “not concerned about poor people,” Gingrich, who has criticized the poor more than any Republican candidate, is now playing politics and hoping that we forget about his past statements.

“I really believe that we should care about the very poor, unlike Governor Romney,” said Gingrich at a campaign stop earlier this week. “But I believe we should care differently than Barack Obama.”

He continued saying that the poor need someone to lift them up.

“What the poor need is a trampoline so that they can spring up,” said Gingrich. “So I’m for replacing the safety net with a trampoline.”
