The new documentary The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 details the life and legacy of the black power movement, including never-before-seen interviews with black power champions Angela Davis and Stokely Carmichael. Filmed in the late 1960s and 1970s, the assorted footage was found in a basement by Goran Olsson and combined with thoughtful commentary by musicians and actors, including Erykah Badu and Harry Belafonte.

Garnering praise at various film festivals, including the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, The Black Power Mixtape is a compelling cinematographic biography of a movement that changed the American black psyche. The film comes out Sept. 9 in limited release.
