Back in 2020, a Georgia mother killed a woman and shot another while holding a 1-year-old child in her arms. After she was apprehended hours later, Dalanna Bailey faced a slew of charges for her alleged crimes. On Monday, she was found guilty of all of them.

A jury deliberated for less than an hour before finding Bailey guilty of: malice murder, felony murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and cruelty to children.

A statement shared by the Newton County District Attorney’s Office explained how Bailey murdered Lapeachah Nash and shot another individual—who is a male—on May 13, 2020:

“The Defendant was at her residence at the Fieldcrest Apartment Complex. The male victim, who had a child with the Defendant, was driven to the apartment complex by Ms. Nash so that the male could provide money to the defendant for their child. The male went to the apartment which resulted in the Defendant yelling and screaming at him while holding her one year old child, and while having a loaded firearm in her waistband. The male attempted to get the firearm from the defendant because of his concern over his own safety and the child’s safety.”

The statement continued:

“The Defendant continued to threaten him including telling him that she had a round in the chamber. The male victim then ran away towards Ms. Nash’s car with the Defendant chasing him. The male made it to Ms. Nash’s car and they attempted to drive away. The Defendant, while still holding the one year old, shot at least 3 shots into the driver side window. One round fatally struck Nash who was in the driver’s seat. The male was also shot in the back.”

The statement also explained that Bailey fled the scene with the firearm before being taken into custody at a motel 7 hours later. She is expected to be sentenced on March 7.
