It’s the 50th anniversary of the birth control pill. Many have heard of the Plan B pill, a one-step emergency contraception available over-the-counter to women 17 years of age or older that can be taken up to 72 hours after unprotected sex to terminate unwanted pregnancy might have competition.
Now the FDA is studying a new pill that will do the same, but up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex. Some doctors are hopeful that this pill will decrease the number of unplanned pregnancies. Hope springs eternal.
