The controversial hazing that some say still occurs in black Greek organizations is being brought to the forefront in the upcoming Netflix original movie Burning Sands.

Burning Sands takes a look at fraternity pledging through the eyes of Zurich (Trevor Jackson) as he navigates through Hell Week and is torn between doing what’s right—not turning a blind eye to hazing and speaking up—and going along to secure his place in the fictional fraternity.

The film, which was a favorite at Sundance, was directed by Gerard McMurray, who was a member of a fraternity at an HBCU, and also stars Alfre Woodard, Steve Harris, Tosin Cole, DeRon Horton and Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes.
