Nephew Charged in Shooting of Reality Star

The 36-year-old nephew of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta reality actor Ray "Benzino" Scott will be arraigned Monday in Plymouth, Mass., on charges of assault with intent to murder his uncle, the Boston Herald reports.

According to several news stations, Gai Scott shot several times into a vehicle that was carrying his uncle, Ray Scott, who goes by Benzino.

The 48-year-old Benzino driving in a funeral procession for his late mother just before noon, when his nephew pulled alongside the vehicle and fired several shots into the red SUV driven by Benzino, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement viewed by Boston.com.

Officials told the news site that there had been growing tension between the two family members.

After being shot, Benzino got out of the SUV and was taken by another family member to the Duxbury Police Department and then transferred to a hospital, Boston.com reports.

Unconfirmed reports state that the rapper-turned-reality star was hit three times and that his injuries did not appear life-threatening.

According to the Boston Herald, the former front man of the rap group Made Men told fans from his South Shore Hospital bed Sunday morning that he was in good spirits and believes that his mother intervened to make sure he made it out safely.

"Feel much better. GOD IS REAL. MY MOTHER TOUCHED ME IM CERTAIN," Scott, 48, former editor-in-chief of the Source magazine posted on his Instagram account, which has nearly 200,000 followers.

Hospital spokeswoman Peg Holda told the Boston Herald Sunday that Scott is in good condition. 

Benzino is a cast member of the VH1 reality show and the CEO of Hip-Hop Weekly.
