Seems like singer Ne-Yo's girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, is putting Madonna and Angelina Jolie to shame when it comees to adopting African children. According to TMZ, she has committed to "adopting" 48 children from Swaziland. Shaw, who was asked by Football Wives reality star Chanita Foster to donate to her charity that helps children in that African nation, made the decision after she saw them in a brochure and fell in love with them, according to TMZ.
Shaw, however, will not be taking physical custody of the children, who will remain in Swaziland. But she has committed to covering their living expenses for a year. The average cost of care for each of them is $30 a month, which totals $17,280 annually.
Ne-Yo and Monyetta are the proud parents of Madilyn Grace, 1, and Mason Evan.
While the efforts of celebrities like Madonna and Angelina Jolie to adopt impoverished African children are to be applauded, we also respect the approach Monyetta is taking, of keeping these children in their homeland and their communities.
