A North Carolina grandfather suffered gunshot wounds after firing back at three home invaders—and possibly killing one of them, News 2 reports. The suspects also reportedly tried to rape his teenage granddaughter.

According to reports by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began on Monday around 10 p.m. when someone knocked on the door of the Lumberton home of the 67-year-old man, his wife and 19-year-old granddaughter.

Two of the three suspects, who were reportedly wearing black clothes, ski masks and gloves, pushed into the home, demanding money. The grandfather and his wife were ordered at gunpoint to open a safe. Meanwhile, all three armed men allegedly tried to rape the granddaughter.
