Talk about an awkward slip of the tongue at the most inopportune time and place. During Sunday night’s Golden Globes red-carpet segment, NBC host Natalie Morales had the opportunity to speak with Viola Davis. The conversation was going quite well until the end.
Davis, who stars in Shonda Rhimes’ How to Get Away With Murder, was nominated in the Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama, category, but during her interview with Morales, it seems as though the host had Rhimes on her mind. At the end of the interview, Morales referred to Davis as “Shonda,” and Parks and Recreation star Retta caught it all on video.
Who knows if Davis actually knew she was called “Shonda,” because in her head she was probably already on to the next interview. I’m quite sure, though, that Morales will never forget that awkward moment.
