It's official — NBA star Amar'e Stoudamire is Jewish. For some reason, many could not wrap their minds around the possibility of a black Jew, so the five-time All-Star's nods to Judaism over the years had folks stumped. Was the tattoo of "Black Jesus" on his neck for real or for play, play? Funny how a man with the last name "Stoudamire" would have his Jewish identity called into question. After all, his mother is named Carrie Stoudamire, and in Judaism, lineage is determined by the mother. Weren't the Semites black? Pull your head out of the sand and repeat after us: Blacks can be Jewish, and Jews can play ball. Now, don't you feel better?
