The conservative magazine National Review fired columnist and self-professed racist John Derbyshire Saturday, following an uproar over a column in Taki's Magazine in which he detailed the talk he would have with his children about future encounters with blacks, reports the Huffington Post.

Written as a response to the talk that many black fathers across the country said they were having with their sons in response to the Trayvon Martin shooting, Derbyshire offered his own spin on advice he would offer white children. His warnings included to "avoid concentrations of blacks not all known to you personally," "Stay out of heavily black neighborhoods" and "If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date.”

On Saturday, National Review Editor Rich Lowry wrote on the magazine's website that Derbyshire's Taki piece was "nasty" and "indefensible." Lowery added, "Derb has long danced around the line on these issues, but this column is so outlandish it constitutes a kind of letter of resignation."
