Myrtle Beach, S.C., has seen five shootings in the past few days, and the mayor of the popular coastal destination, John Rhodes, is sick of it. He lashed out about the most recent shooting, which left three people, all in their 20s, dead, WMBF News reports.
"I'm fed up with it; I'm mad as hell about it," the South Carolina mayor told the news station. "Something has to be done, and whatever we have to do to correct this thing, that's the direction we're going in."
The victims in the triple homicide, which occurred at the Bermuda Sands Motel over the weekend, were 21-year-old Devonte Dantzler, 28-year-old Jamie Williams and 22-year-old Sandy Gaddis Barnwell.
"This is not Myrtle Beach. This is Memorial Day weekend that has been the black biker rally that all this is taking place," Rhodes told the news sation. "This is not what happens the rest of the year, so please don't look at this as something as a habit that happens every week.
"I don't know if there's anything I could say that could satisfy our residents and the business community in our city right now," he added.
Black Bike Week, also called the Atlantic Beach Bike Fest, was held in Myrtle Beach May 23-26.
