Legendary singer Prince is set to guest-star on the Fox comedy New Girl, E! News reports. The episode staring the "Purple One" will air after the Super Bowl.
Prince not only watches the show, but also reached out to the stars himself with an idea of how he could be involved.
"He contacted us last season because he's a huge fan," executive producer Brett Baer told E! News.
"He knows everything about the show. He contacted Zooey and Hannah [Simone] directly and asked to do the show. We couldn't work it out last year. But when the Super Bowl thing was floated, it was perfect timing."
Prince, 55, will appear as himself in an episode about a mansion party that Jess and her friends will try to crash, the Associated Press reports.
"He's right in the middle of trying to help [Nick and Jess] work through some stuff and it's amazing," Baer told E! News. "His thing was all about getting to Jess and trying to bring out this inner part of her that hadn't been brought to the forefront."
This isn't the first time in recent months that the singer has gotten in on the joke. After being famously mocked in a bit called "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories" on The Chappelle Show about beating Eddie Murphy's brother in a game of basketball and then offering everyone pancakes, Prince released the single Breakfast Can Wait, with an image of Chappelle in his Prince-esque get-up holding pancakes as the cover art.
And his comedic timing on the show?
"He's genuinely funny," executive producer David Finkel told E! News.
"He's got a very quiet, wry sense of humor but he kills … He has crazy comic instincts."
