EURweb is reporting that American music legend Etta James is gravely ill. James, who has been battling Alzheimer's disease, became sick with a blood infection and the MRSA superbug while undergoing treatment for an addiction to painkillers last year. She has also been receiving treatment for leukemia.
James' husband of 41 years, Artis Mills, is trying to obtain power of attorney, which she gave to her sons, Donto James and Sametto James, and Donto's wife, Christy, in 2008. Dr. Elaine James, who isn’t related, says in court documents that the singer cannot sign her name and she needs help with feeding, dressing and hygiene. A court hearing on Friday will consider a bid by her husband to control her finances. With impending death comes family drama. Hopefully they can sort this matter out so that the legendary singer can finally have some peace.
