NECN is reporting that state-run media are disputing reports that former President Hosni Mubarak is gravely ill. Headlines are popping up across the Web saying that Mubarak fainted before his speech on Thursday, is suffering from a chronic disease and is now in a coma. An Egyptian newspaper had reported that Mubarak had slipped into a coma, but state-run TV is now disputing that claim.
While rumors float about the status of Mubarak's health, the military is reaching out to the protesters who helped bring an end to Mubarak's 30-year rule. They plan to run the country for at least six months, or until elections are held. Hoaxes come and go, but one thing is for sure: Mubarak is officially gone from politics. That's all the people of Egypt need to know concretely.
