Another Mothership has landed: Pat McGrath—she of the decades-long career of makeup mastery and billion-dollar empire, only two years after the launch of her eponymous brand, is now releasing what is sure to be another highly coveted collection.
Teaming up again with New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, McGrath (who has long held the nickname “Mother”) just released the Adorned Collection, a new line of products inspired by the 230-item “Jewelry: The Body Transformed” exhibit, opening at the Met on Nov.12.
McGrath’s limited edition products are available on both her site and the Met’s, and include the Mothership V: Bronze Seduction Eye Palette, Lust: Gloss in Aliengelic, and Lust: Gloss in Blitz Gold. And in a response to consumer demand, a sweatshirt and tee have been created to immortalize the collection, referencing several items from the Met’s exhibit alongside McGrath’s typically punk packaging.
“Everyone kept saying, ‘I want to wear it.’” McGrath said of producing apparel, which was inspired, in part, by her work with Margiela. “People were getting on my nerves. ‘Have you thought about putting it on a sweatshirt?’ So I decided to try it.”
McGrath also debuted shades from the collection at the recent Versace show, to rave reviews (as always). But Mother’s highly-pigmented glamour doesn’t come cheap: the 10-color palette costs $125 (only $12.50 per shade!), while the glosses will run you $28 each. That said, a little of McGrath’s color will last you a long time. Oh, and if you want to wear the Adorned collection anywhere other than your face, expect to lay out $75-$95 for a sweatshirt.
