Misty Copeland's life story is now heading to the big screen. On the heels of her best-selling memoir, Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina, and the documentary A Ballerina's Tale, Gregory Allen Howard is now penning the screenplay for the biopic.
Howard, who just wrapped up the script for the upcoming Harriet Tubman movie, Harriet, also wrote the screenplay for Remember the Titans. Howard, who has referred to himself as a "lifelong dance aficionado," definitely has a lot of material to work with.
Copeland's life story includes living in a motel with her mother, as well as a custody battle between her mother and dance instructor. And let's not forget Copeland's rise to becoming the first African-American female principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre.
There's no word as to who may be cast as Copeland, but that person better have some ballet experience.
