Police suspended the search in Memphis, Tenn., for 7-week-old Aniston Walker Saturday evening, WMC-TV reports. However, the investigation into just what happened to the child remains open.
The move follows a search for the child after her mother, Andrea Walker, 33, left Aniston at home Thursday with a 3-year-old when she took her 5-year-old son to school, according to the affidavit of complaint, WMC-TV reports.
Walker reportedly told police that when she returned home 30 minutes later, the baby was missing. She said the house was locked and there was no sign of a break-in. Two others people have keys, the report says. Walker was arrested on child abuse and neglect charges.
Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said Walker is a suspect in the disappearance.
"Realistically, 7-week-old kids don't mysteriously disappear without some circumstances behind it," Armstrong said, according to Fox News. "If this was a teenage kid, if this was even a small child of school age, obviously our hopes would be high. But again, 7-week-old children do not have the means to just disappear."
