When it comes to school violence, you can never be too careful. But you can be too bad at recognizing old sitcom theme songs, it seems.
A high school student was detained for three hours, and an entire school district placed on lockdown yesterday — all, according to local news outlet WPXI, because someone misheard the lyrics to the totally nonthreatening tune that opened up the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Police said a worker calling to confirm a doctor's appointment with an Ambridge High School student heard the theme song to the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" when she attempted to call. The worker said she called police when she misheard the lyrics — which she claimed said "shooting people outside of school."
Too ridiculous to be real? Or just a bad combination of heightened awareness and lack of familiarity with vintage Will Smith? You tell us.
