Minn. Governor Officially Declares June 7 ‘Prince Day’

Tuesday marks what would have been Prince’s 58th birthday, and on Monday, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton officially declared the day “Prince Day” in Minnesota. Prince was born on June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis and died April 21, 2016, at his Paisley Park estate outside Minneapolis.

“The proclamation issued today by Gov. Dayton and Lt. Gov. Smith is meant to celebrate Prince’s life and many contributions—not only in arts and culture but also in his many acts of service to his fellow Minnesotans,” the governor’s office said.
