Katt Williams started 2024 with a bang when he came after a lot of his Black comic counterparts during his January “Club Shay Shay” interview. Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey and Kevin Hart were just a few who were caught in the crossfire of Williams’ now-viral conversation with host Shannon Sharpe.

But the “Friday After Next” star kept one comedian’s name out of his mouth – an action that started a war of words that has taken on a life of its own.

During a stand up performance, Mike Epps told the audience that he refused Sharpe’s request for an interview, accusing the popular podcaster of being gay.

“That n***a Shannon Sharpe called me trying to do an interview. I said, ‘no Medea, I ain’t doing no interview with you’ so you can sit across from me and look at my balls,’” Epps said.

Although Epps’ joke caused his audience to erupt in laughter, Sharpe didn’t find it funny at all. And he made his feelings known on the February 12 episode of his nighttime sports podcast “Nightcap,” telling co host Chad Ochocinco Johnson he was more upset about Epps’ suggesting he asked him to be a guest on “Club Shay Shay” than the jokes about his sexuality.

“I don’t care about that other stuff. You can say I’m gay. I don’t care about that, because I won’t chase a lie. But I won’t let you lie on my name,” he said. “Say my name again, and I’m gonna release the DMs because you’re lying. You said I reached out to you to come on ‘Club Shay Shay’ and you a mofo lie.”

And Epps didn’t waste time clapping back in a February 12 Instagram video he captioned, “This is the same guy who started all this black on black crime on his platform now he is upset and sorry Freda I meant netta.”

“I’m not gonna lie. I did DM you to get on the show. But I DM’d you to get on the show because you brought my name up when you was sitting there with Katt,” he said. “And you was trying to get him to talk crazy about me, but he didn’t.”

After suggesting Sharpe bring his beef to the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend events in his hometown of Indianapolis, Epps didn’t hesitate to drop a shameless plug for his Netflix comedy special, which drops on February 20.
