The book, which is Mrs. Obama’s first, isn’t just about how to harvest organic carrots in the nation’s capital. It will address some of the food-related issues for which the first lady has become an advocate, including how increased access to healthy, affordable food can promote better eating and improve the health of families and communities across America.

Readers will also find ideas for how to get involved in the movement to create community, school and urban gardens, support local farmers markets and make small lifestyle changes to achieve health results.

Mrs. Obama accepted no advance for the book and will donate all net or after-tax author proceeds to charity.
